September in Uzbekistan: recorded as the hottest and driest month on record

In September 2025, Uzbekistan experienced one of the hottest and driest autumn months in its history. In some regions, precipitation exceeded the monthly average, but overall, the situation was characterized by drought and high temperatures. This was reported by the press service of "Uzgidromet."

Meteorologists noted that September was quite hot in terms of temperature, with no sharp fluctuations observed across regions. Across the country, air temperatures were around 29–34 degrees, in the hottest days in some areas reaching 35–37 degrees, and in southern regions – 38–40 degrees.

In the second half of September, a brief cooling was observed: at night and in the morning temperatures dropped to 9–14 degrees, during the day did not exceed 23–26 degrees, in southern areas – 29–31 degrees. The average monthly temperature was 1.2–2.3 degrees above normal, and in some northern regions, it approached the norm.

Meteorologists reported that September 2025 entered the top three hottest Septembers in the south and Fergana Valley, and the top five hottest in central regions. Additionally, the first month of autumn in the country was very dry.

Precipitation was absent in most regions or only traces of rain were observed. Only in Karakalpakstan did precipitation exceed the monthly norm by 2–3 times, and in some districts by 4–7 times. Winds strengthened up to 13–18 m/s in some northern, southern, and desert areas, rarely in central regions, and up to 22 m/s on the Ustyurt plateau. Dust fogs were frequently observed.

On September 22, a cold front with dust fog arrived from the desert regions of northern Uzbekistan and southern Kazakhstan, resulting in visibility in Tashkent dropping to 4 km, and for about 24 hours dust fog and elevated air pollution persisted.

These events once again remind the population of the need to be careful and adapt to temperature and weather conditions.
