Uzbekistan is gradually reforming its state social insurance system, reported the Ministry of Justice.
According to the presidential decree signed on November 3, starting from January 1, 2026, maternity, childbirth, and child birth allowances will be assigned and paid proactively — without citizens having to submit applications.
In addition, starting from July 1, 2026, temporary disability benefits will also be calculated automatically. This process will be carried out based on the disability certificate.
The new social insurance system allows citizens to participate either through a portion of their income tax or via voluntary monthly insurance contributions. The amount of payments will be determined based on the minimum insurance period and the total amount of contributions made.
Benefits will be financed through the State Social Insurance Fund. Beginning in 2030, the fund will also handle the review and payment of unemployment benefits. In such cases, payments will be made upon personal application.
These reforms aim to make the system more convenient for citizens, reduce unnecessary bureaucracy and queues, and ensure a digital, transparent, and efficient approach to social protection.
