Uzbekistan joins the metric convention and opens new doors of opportunity

Uzbekistan has taken an important step in the scientific and technical sphere: the Law "On the Accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the International Metric Convention" was adopted in the country, and from now on, our country has become a full-fledged participant in this Convention, signed in 1875. This is recognized not only as an official step, but also as a decision that marks the beginning of a qualitatively new stage in metrology, science, trade, and industry.

A step towards true global integration

By joining the Convention, Uzbekistan will now participate in the activities of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM). This means that the country coordinates measurement standards with the countries of the world and operates on the basis of a single criterion. The right, which for many years was acquired only by a few countries, now belongs to Uzbekistan.

Measurement standards now have international consistency

By this decision, the national standards of units of measurement in our country, from mass to length, temperature, time, and many others, will be officially linked to the international system of measurements. Such interconnectedness significantly increases trust and transparency both in the domestic market and in foreign trade.

Significant benefits for industry and exports

One of the most important aspects is that the processes of calibration, certification, and metrological control will be significantly simplified. The measurement results obtained in Uzbekistan are now recognized in all states that are parties to the Convention. This means great opportunities and savings for enterprises operating in industry, technology, agriculture, medicine, construction, and exports.

Technical barriers in export-import will be reduced, product quality confirmation will be simplified, and manufacturers will have easier access to the international market.

Strong impetus for scientific potential

Changes in metrology will also expand the capabilities of local laboratories and institutes. They now work in direct accordance with international standards and rely on high-quality units in their research. This will give a powerful impetus to science and innovation.

Investors' trust will be further strengthened

The most important point about the countries that have acceded to the Convention is the high level of confidence in quality control in them. After Uzbekistan's decision, international partners, investors, and large organizations will have even greater confidence in our products and certificates.

In short, the adoption of this law is not a technical document, but means that Uzbekistan is moving one step closer to the global economic system, opening new doors in the field of industry and science.
