Scientists at the Materials Science Institute of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan have accomplished a true revolution for agriculture! They developed the “smart” nanofilm technology which allows heating greenhouses without using any fuel, without emission gases, and cooling them in the summer. According to test results, in greenhouses utilizing the new film, energy consumption decreases by up to 80%, and yield increases by up to 50%!
The Secret of Nanoparticles: Sunlight is the Source of Heat
This technology is based on embedding special nanocomposite particles into the film's surface. These particles absorb the ultraviolet part of the sun's light and convert it into soft infrared light. It is this light that effectively heats the soil and air, which allows for the automatic regulation of the temperature inside the greenhouse.
According to experiments, even when the outside cold was –3…–7 °C, a stable temperature of +5 °C to +7 °C was maintained inside the greenhouse covered with the new film. This means additional heating equipment will not be necessary in winter! In summer, conversely, the film lowers the temperature by up to 6–9 °C, protecting plants from overheating.
Efficiency and Ecology
Due to the enhanced infrared light, the growth of plants accelerates 1.5–2 times. Furthermore, water consumption for irrigation decreases by up to 90% when special hydrogels are used. Another important aspect: the strength of the film increases 3 times, which sharply reduces the amount of plastic waste. The scientists call this development the practical expression of the "green heat" concept: energy is obtained not from traditional fuel but directly from sunlight. This technology expands the possibilities for growing agricultural products in ecologically clean conditions in Uzbekistan.
