Buses in Tashkent will be much faster: a new stage on the roads

Major changes are beginning in Tashkent’s public transportation system — the average speed of buses in the capital will be significantly increased. According to the presidential decree, buses will now operate at a speed of 24 km/h instead of 18 km/h. This is part of reforms aimed not only at saving time but also at reducing road congestion.

According to the approved roadmap, several major goals have been set for Tashkent’s transport system until 2030. These include increasing public transport usage to 60 percent, creating 150,000 parking spaces across the capital, and expanding the metro network to 103 kilometers.

Additionally, a Traffic Management Center will be established in Tashkent. It will continuously monitor transport flows, pedestrian movement, and public transit using modern digital technologies.

Among the responsibilities of the Center are the following:
— developing a full-scale transport master plan for the capital;
— constructing multi-level parking facilities at intersections of major roads entering the city with bus and metro hubs;
— creating safe parking areas under surface metro lines and overpasses.

Officials note that these changes will ease traffic flow in Tashkent and make public transportation more stable and faster. The city’s transport system is expected to reach an entirely new level in the coming years.
