Shavkat Mirziyoyev pardoned 615 people on the eve of Constitution Day

On the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree "On pardoning a group of persons serving sentences who have sincerely repented of their deeds and firmly embarked on the path of correction."

In accordance with the Decree, in accordance with paragraph 23 of Article 109 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, 615 persons serving sentences who sincerely repented of their deeds and firmly embarked on the path of correction were pardoned.

Of those pardoned, 220 were fully released from the main punishment, 123 were conditionally released early from serving their sentences, and the imprisonment of 97 was commuted to a lighter punishment. Also, the terms of imprisonment imposed on 175 persons were reduced.

Among those pardoned, 9 are foreign citizens, 29 are women, 23 are men over 60 years old, 264 are young people (including 2 minors), and 9 are persons who participated in the activities of prohibited organizations.

"In pursuance of the decree, relevant ministries and agencies have been instructed to assist pardoned individuals in returning to their families and loved ones, adapting to social life, engaging in useful work, establishing a healthy lifestyle, and finding a worthy place in society," the decree's commentary states.
