38 higher educational institutions of Uzbekistan took their places in the world's most prestigious UI GreenMetric ranking - the top 1000 in terms of international environmental sustainability. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation.
On December 5, the official results of the UI GreenMetric 2025 international list of environmentally sustainable universities were announced in Taiwan. 1745 universities from 105 countries of the world participated in this study. Among them, 79 universities from Uzbekistan participated, and 38 of them successfully entered the world's top 1000 "green" universities.
The Ministry noted that in connection with the designation of 2025 as the "Year of Environmental Protection and Green Economy" in the country, the participation of national universities in environmental initiatives has sharply intensified. The changes being implemented in institutions - sustainable infrastructure, resource conservation, increasing green spaces, and strategies focused on international standards - received high praise.
The official statement says:
"The results of UI GreenMetric 2025 are a vivid confirmation of our firm steps to strengthen environmental responsibility and an innovative approach in our universities."
For information, UI GreenMetric is a global environmental rating conducted by the University of Indonesia since 2010, which assesses the environmental approaches of universities in environmental policies, energy-saving programs, waste recycling, green infrastructure, and educational and scientific activities.
Such a result of universities in Uzbekistan testifies to the practical effectiveness of "green" reforms in the country.
