Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviews construction of a university and the National Library in New Tashkent

On December 30, Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the construction progress of the “New Uzbekistan” University being built in New Tashkent, as well as the new building of the National Library of Uzbekistan. This was reported by podrobno.uzreports.

The university complex, initially valued at $200 million, will be located on a 50-hectare site. The project was developed in cooperation with Turkish specialists, and construction is being carried out by O'zg'uv'en.

The complex will include five faculties designed for 10,000 students, the rectorate, a library with more than 1,000 seats, a museum, an exhibition hall, and multimedia rooms. Plans also include a 1,000-seat sports facility for students and staff, dormitory buildings for 2,000 residents, a swimming pool, and dining outlets.

The new higher education institution is expected to begin admitting students in 2027.

In addition, a new building for the National Library is also being constructed on an area of nearly 4 hectares. It was noted that the design combines national architectural traditions with modern solutions.

The four-story facility will have a total area of more than 30,000 square meters and will be able to serve about 1,500 readers at the same time. Special high-tech rooms will be set up for storing, cataloging, security, and processing the book collections.

The library complex will also provide online access to electronic databases of major international and national libraries. A separate environment adapted for reading and research will be created for citizens with visual impairments. The project also предусматривает a 300-seat café, a gallery, sports grounds, and recreation areas.

Earlier, in Samarkand, the concept of a future Children’s Library was presented; it will be housed in a historic building constructed in 1911 and slated for renovation. The facility is planned to be restored based on the experience of the renovated library in Tashkent, while preserving its historical appearance and the spirit of the era.
