The Agency for Waste Management and Development of the Circular Economy under the Ecology Committee held a briefing on the work carried out in 2025. The main results of waste management, sanitation coverage, infrastructure development, and digitalization were presented.
It is noted that out of 37.5 million people living in 9,452 mahallas of the republic, 8,105 mahallas, that is, 23.9 million people, are covered by sanitation services. By the end of 2025, a total of 15.1 million tons of household waste was generated in the country. The population paid 1 trillion 304 billion soums for services, and accounts receivable amounted to 622.7 billion soums.
At the same time, it was noted that non-real accounts receivable in the amount of 211.9 billion soums accrued for services not actually rendered were removed from the electronic system. For the transparency of the sphere, the unified electronic billing system "Toza Makon" has been continuously launched.
Work is underway to create eco-industrial zones in 6 regions and 14 reloading points in 11 regions. In Andijan, Kashkadarya, Namangan, Samarkand, Tashkent, and Fergana regions, plants for the thermal processing of waste and the production of electricity are being built. Projects for obtaining heat by burning medical waste are also being implemented in the city of Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara regions.
Sanitary cleaning enterprises were provided with 79 garbage trucks and 220 containers. GPS has been installed on 3,230 units of special equipment, and traffic and the quality of services are being monitored. In addition, more than 21,300 appeals were reviewed, and the activities of 23 landfills with a total area of almost 100 hectares, which did not meet environmental requirements, were suspended.
