Tashkent recognized as the safest city in Central Asia

Tashkent has been officially recognized as the safest metropolis in Central Asia. According to the security rating compiled by the international analytical portal Numbeo based on the results of 2025, the capital of Uzbekistan recorded the highest result among all major cities in the region and ranked 51st in the world ranking.
According to the data, Tashkent surpassed Astana (81st place) and Almaty (195th place) in Kazakhstan in the safety index. At the same time, it also leads among the cities of the CIS countries and ranks first among nine CIS cities in the top 100 of the global ranking.
A number of major Russian cities are also high in the ranking. In particular, Nizhny Novgorod ranked 56th, Kazan 72nd, Kaliningrad 78th, and Moscow 99th.
On a global scale, in terms of security, the cities of the Middle East maintained their dominance. The top three are Abu Dhabi, Doha, and Dubai. Taipei, Sharjah, Manama, Muscat, The Hague, Munich, and Trondheim also ranked among the top ten safest cities.
Numbeo experts emphasize that the safety index is not limited to crime rates alone. It is formed on the basis of the effectiveness of law enforcement agencies, the level of public order, the development of urban infrastructure, as well as subjective opinions of the population and tourists about safety. This allows for a broad and relatively objective understanding of the overall quality of life in the city.
