Subsidies for electric vehicle charging, new privileges for "taxi drivers"...

New measures are being outlined in Uzbekistan to accelerate the development of electric vehicle infrastructure and encourage "green transport". The 2026 state program, approved by presidential decree, sets out specific tasks, from tariffs at charging stations to incentives for those who drive electric vehicles, and even environmental initiatives.
The "excess" part of the tariff at charging stations will be compensated
According to the program, the part of the price of 1 kWh of electricity at charging stations for electric vehicles that exceeds 300 soums will be compensated from the state budget. This procedure should be implemented from May 1, 2026.
The main goal of this decision is to make the charging service more affordable for the population and expand the use of stations.
Three important benefits for electric taxi drivers
From March 1, 2026, a number of support measures will be introduced for self-employed individuals engaged in electric taxi services:
- up to a 10 percent discount on social tax;
- free parking for up to 30 minutes in parking lots owned by state organizations, including parking lots at airports and train stations;
- citizens who have provided taxi services for 1 million kilometers without committing violations or accidents will be awarded the “Protector of Nature” badge.
In short, anyone who works honestly in clean transport and follows the rules has both material and moral incentives. As the saying goes, “Be an example on the road, your badge is ready.”
Land for charging stations will start cheaper
Another important innovation: land plots purchased for charging stations will be set at auction at a starting price that is 2 times cheaper than the market price. The implementation of this task should also begin on May 1, 2026.
This decision will serve to increase the number of stations, facilitate access for private investors, and expand infrastructure more quickly.
Pilot project on green areas and “artificial rain”
The program also includes plans in the environmental direction: it is planned to create 14 botanical and dendrological gardens in the regions of the republic, as well as 20 shady and cool promenades.
In addition, it is planned to develop a scientifically based pilot practical project on artificial rain technology, based on the study of foreign experience (France, China, Saudi Arabia).
Conclusion
In 2026, the trio of "electric vehicles + infrastructure + privileges" is expected to gain serious momentum. If the tasks are completed within the specified time frame, the cost of charging will be reduced, the conditions for taxi drivers will expand, and cities will become even greener. The most interesting thing is that these works are for the future: not only speed, but also cleanliness are becoming a trend.
