How many women live in Uzbekistan?

As of January 1, 2026, the number of women in Uzbekistan amounted to 18 million 979.0 thousand people. This was reported by the National Statistics Committee.
It is noted that women make up 49.6 percent of the permanent population of the country.
By regions, the number of women is distributed as follows:
Samarkand region — 2,172.4 thousand people;
Fergana region — 2,091.2 thousand people;
Kashkadarya region — 1,831.6 thousand people;
Andijan region — 1,737.4 thousand people;
Tashkent city — 1,616.9 thousand people;
Tashkent region — 1,574.3 thousand people;
Namangan region — 1,568.5 thousand people;
Surkhandarya region — 1,486.6 thousand people;
Bukhara region — 1,050.4 thousand people;
Khorezm region — 1,032.3 thousand people;
Republic of Karakalpakstan — 1,021.7 thousand people;
Jizzakh region — 776.0 thousand people;
Navoi region — 548.7 thousand people;
Syrdarya region — 471.0 thousand people.
Statistical figures show that the largest number of women lives in the Samarkand region, followed by the Fergana and Kashkadarya regions. The lowest indicator was recorded in the Syrdarya region.
