EU imposes sanctions on Uzbek companies
In brief

The European Union has imposed sanctions on two Uzbek companies, Raw Materials Cellulose and the Fergana Chemical Plant, for their role in supporting Russia's military industry. These firms are accused of supplying cotton cellulose to Russian gunpowder factories in Perm, Kazan, and Tambov, where the raw material was used to produce ammunition for the Russian army. EU officials designated these activities as serious violations, resulting in restricted access to European markets and increased monitoring of the companies' financial operations.

The European Union has imposed sanctions against two large enterprises operating in Uzbekistan. The measures target Raw Materials Cellulose, a producer of cotton cellulose, and the Fergana Chemical Plant. The Fergana Chemical Plant is controlled by Rustam Muminov.

According to reports, products manufactured by these enterprises were supplied to gunpowder manufacturing plants in Russia, specifically those in Perm, Kazan, and Tambov. It is alleged that this raw material was subsequently used for military purposes, with the finished gunpowder being delivered to the Russian army.

European Union officials have assessed this situation as a serious violation and decided to apply restrictive measures. Within the framework of the sanctions, the companies' access to European markets may be restricted, their financial operations placed under monitoring, and their opportunities for international cooperation reduced.
