Sadir Japarov: now people don't need "Ozodlik" news
American billionaire Elon Musk called for the closure of Radio Liberty and Voice of America. Kyrgyz President Sadir Japarov supported this. This was reported by "24.kg".

Japarov recalled that he spoke about how much money various US foundations allocate to finance Radio Liberty and other media outlets.

"If you don't know where to spend the money, give it directly to us, to the state. We will ensure democracy and human rights at the highest level," Sadir Japarov said at that time, addressing the leadership of the US State Department.

The Kyrgyz leader considers it a coincidence that US President Donald Trump suspended USAID for three months, and now Musk and other American politicians are demanding the closure of Radio Liberty.

"Donald Trump and Elon Musk don't need my initiatives. Both are billionaires. They know very well that money doesn't fall from the sky. They want to stop wasting Americans' money, and they are absolutely right. This is the 21st century. Any information spreads around the world in five minutes. 20-30 years ago, everyone expected, heard, and believed in "Ozodlik". Because at that time there was no Internet, no smartphones. Now people don't need "Ozodlik" news. They get all the information via the Internet," said Japarov.

According to Sadir Japarov, people have learned to analyze the news and don't believe everything. People understand which news is unreliable.

"For example, when "Ozodlik" spreads false information that damages someone's reputation, people start analyzing it. When it turns out that it is false, people ask, "Why are you spreading false information?" And they delete the news from their website and say, "Sorry." If you take them to court, they will start announcing to the whole world: "Freedom of speech is dead in our country!" Is this normal? Is spreading false information or manipulating news freedom of speech? Allowing everything should not be confused with freedom of speech or human rights," said Sadir Japarov.

The Kyrgyz president therefore emphasized that the decisions of Trump and Musk are worthy of support.

Trump and Musk's decision to stop funding

Billionaire Elon Musk is the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). This structure focuses on eliminating unnecessary regulations, cutting officials and costs. Based on this, the billionaire said that Radio Liberty and Voice of America are wasting taxpayer money.

“Yes, close them down. Europe is free now (except for the stifling bureaucracy). No one listens to them anymore. These are just crazy radical leftists talking to themselves, and they are spending $ 1 billion a year of American taxpayers' money,” the billionaire wrote on his X page.

He previously said that the US government would stop funding Politico, The New York Times (NYT) and the Associated Press (AP). The reason for this was given because the AP received $ 620 thousand from the State Department, and the NYT received “tens of millions of dollars” from the Department of Health and Human Services.

“Politico newspaper received $8 million from USAID for positive articles about Democrats", says US President.

The White House said the funding came from USAID. Politico responded by saying it had “never been a beneficiary of any government programs or subsidies.” Trump added that “this could be the biggest scandal in history” and that Democrats “can’t get away with it.”
