
US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin had a long telephone conversation. Donald Trump announced this.
The American president described the conversation as “a long and very productive one.” According to him, both leaders agreed on the need to stop the killing of people in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
“We also agreed that our respective teams will immediately begin negotiations,” Trump said.
The American president noted that the initial steps would be “to call Ukrainian President Zelensky and inform him of the conversation that took place.”
The parties also discussed:

- Artificial Intelligence;
- The influence of the dollar.
"We both thought about the great history of our peoples and the successful fight we had together in World War II," Trump wrote.
The Kremlin also confirmed the talks. According to Dmitry Peskov, the Russian presidential spokesman, the leaders spoke for about two hours. Putin invited Trump to Moscow.
"The Russian president invited the US president to Moscow and expressed his readiness to receive American officials in Russia on mutually beneficial areas of work, including resolving the Ukraine issue," Peskov said.
The New York Post reported on February 9 that Trump had discussed ending the war in Ukraine by phone with his Russian counterpart. Trump did not say how long the conversation between the two leaders lasted. The US president noted that the deaths of soldiers on the battlefield "really worries" Putin.
