If Ukraine is not accepted into NATO, then the country must have a 1.5 million-strong army, and the army must have "modern weapons." This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.

According to him, "today's America and President Trump are not ready to talk about Ukraine's accession to NATO."

They believe that NATO is impossible in Ukraine due to the escalation with the Russians, Zelensky added.

Zelensky added that he does not see "a ready-made plan in the United States."

"We are ready to talk about everything. From contingents to security guarantees. We are ready for any structure," the Ukrainian president said.

On February 13, US President Donald Trump said that Ukraine's accession to NATO as part of a peace agreement was "unrealistic."

The US president has weighed in on why Russia has launched a full-scale war against Ukraine. According to Trump, former President Joe Biden spoke about Ukraine's prospects for joining NATO. This allegedly "prompted Russia to launch a large-scale military invasion." The US president said that the Russians "cannot allow" Ukraine to become a full-fledged member of NATO due to their "position." However, he did not explain what "position" he was talking about.

"I don't understand how a country with the position of Russia would allow them (Ukrainians) to join NATO. They would not allow Ukraine to join the alliance with such a position," the president said.

The politician noted that Russia has long been "firm" about the possibility of Ukraine joining NATO, but "Biden came out and announced that Ukraine could join the Union."

"As soon as he did that, I said: Now there will be a war, and I was right," the US leader said.
