A meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump requires “certain preparations from the Foreign Ministry,” the Russian leader’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

According to him, the meeting could take place by the end of February, but there is a possibility that the parties will not be able to reach an agreement within this period.

The US president did not rule out the possibility of meeting his Russian counterpart by the end of February.

Earlier, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that a possible meeting between the two leaders was discussed at the Russian-US talks in Riyadh on February 18.

“We are ready for this, but it is still difficult to talk about the exact date of the meeting of the two leaders,” Ushakov said.

US and Russian Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin could meet next week, Bloomberg reported without citing specific sources.

"These talks in Saudi Arabia could pave the way for a meeting between the two leaders as early as next week," the report said.

Trump and Putin reached an agreement to meet face-to-face during a telephone conversation in mid-February. According to the American president, they discussed plans for mutual visits. In turn, the Russian president invited Trump to Moscow.

Earlier, NBC reported that the US did not invite the Ukrainian delegation to talks with Russia in Saudi Arabia, because Washington plans to hold separate bilateral meetings with representatives of Moscow and Kiev, and then hold a joint meeting.

"This shows that we are working with both Russia and Ukraine with the same intensity. We want to stop the killings and achieve a lasting peace," said one of the channel's interlocutors.
