US President's National Security Advisor Mike Walz said on Fox News that the United States is taking a new approach to its relationship with Russia.

"We are reviewing our relationship with Russia. The first step was President Trump's conversations with Putin and Zelensky, and then the talks in Riyadh," he said.

Walz added that the United States is also rethinking how it will work with Ukraine on the economy and key minerals so that "the American people can benefit from the huge investments that are being made in the country."

On February 18 of this year, a meeting of Russian and US delegations was held in Riyadh. Following the talks, Russian President Vladimir Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that an important step towards normalizing relations had been taken. At the same time, he stressed that there was still a long way to go to normalize relations between the two countries.

The US State Department also noted that one meeting was not enough to achieve a lasting peace.

Earlier, it was reported that the US was trying to block a Ukrainian resolution at the UN condemning Russia for its aggressive war.

At the same time, the administration of US President Donald Trump called on all UN members to support the American text of the resolution.

"The United States has proposed a simple, historic resolution to the UN that urges all member states to support the path to peace," the US State Department said.

It is emphasized that this resolution is consistent with President Trump's view that the UN should return to its fundamental purpose enshrined in its Charter - to ensure international peace and security, including through the peaceful resolution of disputes.

"We firmly believe that now is the time to take on the responsibility to end the war. This is our opportunity to create a real momentum for peace," the statement said.

US draft resolution does not refer to the principles of Ukrainian sovereignty

According to Bloomberg, the US draft resolution does not refer to the principles of Ukrainian sovereignty and territorial integrity. According to The Washington Post, Ukraine was informed of the US proposal on February 21.

The source explained that Washington initially considered the resolution proposed by Ukraine and "demanded some changes to soften it." Then Washington proposed a new resolution and called on Kiev to withdraw its version. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky ordered the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry not to withdraw the resolution.

Russia is ready to support the US document if it is amended

According to AFP, the draft proposed by the US does not contain any mention of the territory of Ukraine occupied by Russia. Unlike previous resolutions proposed and supported by Washington, the latest draft does not contain criticism of Moscow and does not indicate it as a source of conflict.

Russia proposed to amend the document by adding the phrase "including by eliminating its root causes" after the words "calls for a speedy resolution of the conflict," Reuters noted.

Russia's permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia, called the American project a "good step." According to an anonymous Russian diplomat, if the amendment is adopted by the UN General Assembly, Moscow will vote for the US resolution.
