NATO intelligence: How many soldiers did the Russian army lose in the Ukraine war?
250,000 Russian servicemen have been killed in the war against Ukraine, Deutsche Welle reported, citing a senior unnamed NATO official. Since the war began, Russia’s total losses have exceeded 900,000 personnel.

According to the official, Russia is losing over 1,000 troops daily, including both killed and wounded. Many wounded soldiers have become disabled due to poor medical treatment.

These figures were revealed during a NATO foreign ministers' meeting in Brussels. The NATO representative also noted that while Russia is able to replenish its losses quickly, its advance in Ukraine is slowing.

The official added that Russia’s leadership is showing readiness to accept massive losses in exchange for slow battlefield gains. So far, Russian society does not appear ready for mass protests over the high casualty numbers.

Obituaries and open sources have confirmed the identities of over 100,000 dead Russian soldiers. Among them, 4,842 were officers. Bashkortostan has the highest number of casualties (4,487), followed by Tatarstan (4,371) and Sverdlovsk region (3,446).
