Zelensky accuses China of supplying weapons to Russia — is Beijing maintaining neutrality?
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused China of supplying weapons and military equipment to the Russian army. This was reported by the Interfax-Ukraine news agency.
“We have evidence of weapons being delivered to Russia by China. We are currently collecting information on gunpowder, artillery and other items through the Ukrainian security service and intelligence agencies. We will provide more detailed information next week,” Zelensky said.
Not weapons, but production at the center of the accusation
The Ukrainian leader said that, according to information from Kiev, China is not limited to supplying weapons. According to him, Chinese representatives may also be involved in the production of weapons on Russian territory.
These claims may raise serious questions in the world community about China's neutral position.
China - officially neutral, but what is it in practice?
China has so far declared a neutral position in the Russia-Ukraine war, calling on the parties to end the war through negotiations. At the same time, Beijing has not joined the sanctions imposed by the West against Russia.
However, recent events have raised the question of whether this neutrality is just words.
Chinese citizens in the war: who is lying?
In early April, the Ukrainian army announced that it had captured two Chinese citizens fighting on the side of Russia. They, according to their own statements, came to Russia to earn money, but were deceived and sent to the front.
Chinese officials responded to this information with an official statement: "We did not send our military to Ukraine."
