Deadly Terror Attack in India: Tourists Shot in Kashmir, Casualties Reported

A tragic shooting took place in Jammu and Kashmir, a northern region of India. Dozens of tourists were killed, according to News18, citing sources from the Ministry of Defense and security services.

The incident occurred in the famous Baisaran Valley near the city of Pahalgam. While a group of tourists was hiking on a mountain trail, they were suddenly attacked by armed individuals. Reports indicate that at least 27 people, including two foreigners, were killed in the shooting.

Police and medical teams immediately arrived at the scene. Local authorities are treating the incident as a terrorist attack.

Indian media note that the number of casualties may increase. The government has not yet released official figures on the dead and injured.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is currently on an official trip to Saudi Arabia, was informed of the attack and contacted Interior Minister Amit Shah, instructing him to take urgent measures and to personally visit the affected region.

“We will stand even firmer against terrorism. These attacks will not break the will of our nation,” Modi wrote on his social media account.

Interior Minister Amit Shah said that the perpetrators will not escape punishment, and confirmed that he is heading to Jammu and Kashmir to hold an emergency meeting with the security agencies.

Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers were armed men wearing military uniforms. The terrorists managed to escape after the shooting. Indian security forces have since cordoned off the area and launched a manhunt for the attackers.

According to local sources, a group known as the “Resistance Front” has claimed responsibility for the deadly assault.
