Stabbing attack between Uzbeks in Dubai: 1 person killed, 15 people arrested
On April 20 of this year, a sharp conflict broke out between two criminal groups consisting of Uzbek citizens in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. According to reports, as a result of this conflict, a stabbing occurred, as a result of which one of the group leaders died on the spot.

According to sources, members of this criminal group left the country after the tough measures taken against the "street" in Uzbekistan in December 2023 and hid in Turkey and the UAE.

According to Ahror Burkhanov, the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, our diplomats in the UAE held a meeting with the leadership of the Dubai Criminal Investigation Department regarding this incident.

“UAE officials reported that the investigation into the incident is ongoing, and that 15 Uzbek citizens have been detained in this case. It was also noted that the recent increase in crimes and offenses committed by Uzbeks may have a negative impact on the visa-free travel regime between the two countries,” the MFA said in a statement.

The MFA also noted that it is working closely with law enforcement agencies and calls on all Uzbeks abroad to refrain from actions that tarnish the honor of their compatriots.

However, the ministry has not yet released specific details of the incident, including the identities of those killed or injured.

Uzbeks face problems entering the UAE

According to Kun.uz, problems with Uzbek citizens entering the UAE have increased recently. In particular, today, on April 25, 9 Uzbek citizens who were planning to return to Uzbekistan from Saudi Arabia via the UAE encountered problems at the airport.

According to citizen Abdulvahid Abdulhamidov, he bought a ticket from Medina to Dubai on April 25, and then from Abu Dhabi to Tashkent on April 26. However, the Medina airport administration did not allow him to board the plane. In addition, 8 more Uzbek citizens found themselves in a similar situation.

These situations began with the murder of Rabbi Zvi Kogan in the UAE in November 2024. At that time, a UAE court found three Uzbek citizens guilty of the crime and sentenced them to death.

After these events, the conditions for Uzbek citizens to enter the UAE and work there became significantly more difficult. In particular, on November 25 of last year, a group of Uzbek citizens were detained by police in Dubai. Later, it became known that some of them were released, others were deported, and criminal cases were initiated against five more citizens.

Also, during 2024, there were cases where many citizens from several flights from Uzbekistan were turned back at various airports in the UAE without any reason.
