
A 67-year-old man from Konya, Turkey, was left with an unusual condition after surgery. He had forgotten his native language, Turkish, after a knee operation and a blood clot in his artery. However, he now speaks only Danish, the Anadolu news agency reported.
After the surgery, the patient's right arm and leg became weak, so doctors urgently performed an angiography to remove the blood clot. However, despite the successful completion of the operation, the patient could not remember Turkish.
Interestingly, he began to speak Danish fluently and fluently. It turned out that the man had lived in Denmark for 20 years, then returned to Turkey and lived in Konya for 10 years.
“Now I can only speak Danish. I can’t say anything in Turkish,” the patient explained through an interpreter.
According to Gökhan Özdemir, a doctor at Selçuk University’s Faculty of Medicine, patients experience such strange phenomena when blood clots form in their arteries. Sometimes they forget their own language or start speaking languages they didn’t know before.
