U.S. and Israel launch massive airstrikes on Yemen: tensions escalate (video)

On the evening of May 5, the U.S. and Israeli air forces launched widespread airstrikes on the Yemeni capital Sana'a and the strategically important city of Hodeidah. This was reported by The Times of Israel.

According to reports, the strikes came just days after the Houthis launched a missile attack on Israel's Ben-Gurion International Airport. Saudi media sources say that U.S. forces conducted a three-phase assault on Sana'a, while over 30 Israeli fighter jets targeted Hodeidah port.

The U.S. and Israeli pilots reportedly focused on infrastructure and energy-related facilities during the attack. In total, around 50 bombs were dropped on Yemeni territory.

“We aimed to destroy Hodeidah port and cement plants used to manufacture weapons. This joint operation had a significant impact — and it’s not over. We now have the situation under tight control,” said an Israeli source.

Another source noted that although the port sustained heavy damage, it was not completely destroyed.
“Hodeidah has been significantly damaged, but it’s not entirely demolished,” the source added.

According to the Houthi-controlled Ministry of Health, 16 people were injured in Sana'a as a result of the strikes. At the time of publication, official information regarding casualties in Hodeidah had not yet been released.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant monitored the operation from a military base in Tel Aviv.

The political bureau of the Houthis strongly condemned the airstrikes, accusing Israel of targeting economic infrastructure due to failure in achieving military goals. According to them, a strike on a cement factory killed 2 people and injured 42 others.

Military analysts fear this event could further escalate tensions in the region. The international community is urging both sides to resolve the conflict peacefully.
