The “Coalition of the Willing” is gathering to establish peace in Ukraine

On May 10, an important diplomatic process of international importance will begin in Ukraine. In Kiev, issues of forming a post-war peacekeeping contingent will be discussed within the framework of the initiative called the “Coalition of the Willing”. This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in his address to the leaders of the countries participating in the “United Expeditionary Force” on May 9.

“The coalition should become a guarantor of security”

According to Zelensky, international forces are needed to ensure security in Ukraine after the war. The “Coalition of the Willing” can become just such a force.

“We need this coalition. It should be strong enough to guarantee security based on common views. We have very serious and responsible work ahead of us,” Zelensky said.

Trust in Europe - the path to a new security architecture

The Ukrainian leader also noted that this coalition will become an important political pillar for European security.

“I am convinced that Europe will only benefit from this collective action. It will be an important factor in reshaping and strengthening the common security system,” he said.

Coalition composition — about 30 countries

The following countries are currently known to be part of the “Coalition of the Willing”:
- Germany
- Great Britain
- France

A total of about 30 countries are expected to participate in this group. Each of them can play an active role in stabilizing the political and military balance that has emerged after the war in Ukraine.
