Famous British mountaineer Kenton Cool has successfully reached the summit of Mount Everest for the 19th time, breaking his own previous record, according to BBC reports.
The 51-year-old athlete reached the summit of Everest (8,849 meters) at 11:00 a.m. local time on May 18. As in his previous expeditions, he was accompanied by Sherpa Dorji Gyaljen, who made his 23rd ascent of the mountain.
Kenton Cool’s Everest journey began in 2004, and since then he has regularly climbed this peak almost every year.
After climbing Everest for the 16th time in 2022, Cool admitted that many Nepalese climbers had surpassed his record, prompting him to attempt another ascent to improve his result. He shared this intention on his Instagram page. His colleagues and fans enthusiastically supported this decision.
One of Kenton Cool's teammates, Ballinger, stated: "His 20 years of experience, strong willpower, and inspiring charisma have made him one of the most valuable members of the Everest climbing team."
