Iran nears nuclear weapons development: US expresses concern
US officials are expressing serious concern over Iran's active steps toward developing nuclear weapons. This was announced by Republican Senator Tom Cotton from Arkansas on his social media page on X.

According to him, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth confirmed that Iran is actively working on producing nuclear weapons. “Iran is actively working on developing a nuclear weapon. This poses a massive threat to our national security, our allies, and the peaceful population of the entire region. We must stop this firmly,” the senator wrote.

This statement comes against the backdrop of recent findings announced by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). On June 9 of this year, IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi reported that traces of anthropogenic uranium had been discovered at several secret sites in Iran, originating from previous years. He noted that these sites were decommissioned in the early 2000s, yet signs of undeclared nuclear activity are still being detected.

Grossi emphasized that these sites were part of an “undeclared, covert nuclear program” and that undeclared nuclear materials were used there. This further intensifies the concerns surrounding Iran’s nuclear agenda.

International experts consider this situation a serious threat to global non-proliferation efforts. The US, Europe, and many regional countries are demanding that Iran conduct its activities transparently and openly.

The global community is closely monitoring this issue. Iran’s compliance with nuclear agreements and ensuring full access for international inspections are crucial not only for regional stability but for the security of all humanity.
