Germany increases military aid to Ukraine: Pistorius held important talks in Kiev
On Thursday, June 12, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius paid a working visit to Kiev. According to the dpa agency, he will discuss the current situation in the country and additional military assistance with the Ukrainian leadership.

Pistorius' support and new initiatives

On the eve of the visit, the minister made clear proposals and a firm position:
— "We will take all necessary support measures so that Ukraine can defend itself and Russia can reach a point where it is ready for serious negotiations," Pistorius said.

According to him, Kiev's greatest need at the moment is air defense. Therefore, at a meeting in Brussels, the minister called on international partner countries to actively support the "Immediate Action on Air Defense" initiative to strengthen air defense.

New EAC coalition and the joining of countries

According to Pistorius, the special group of countries working to increase Ukraine's electronic warfare (EW) capabilities is expanding. Belgium, Estonia, Italy, Sweden and Turkey have expressed their intention to join the coalition. The group's goal is to increase the communications, intelligence and defense capabilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, limit Russian military communications, and thwart drone and missile attacks.

Military assistance and relations with the US

Minister Pistorius also emphasized the important role of the United States in providing military assistance to Ukraine. According to him, there has been no official signal from Washington about the suspension of financial assistance so far. At the same time, Germany and the European Union countries expressed their full readiness to continue assisting Ukraine. "The Europeans are taking responsibility and are ready to finance additional military assistance," the minister said.

Russian attacks and the situation in Ukraine

Pistorius also noted that many innocent civilians in Ukraine are suffering as a result of Russia's massive air strikes, drone attacks and cruise missiles. He mentioned that strengthening the country's defense is also important for European security.

This active support of Germany and European countries gives hope to stabilize the situation in Ukraine and reach peace talks.
