Putin: We want to end the Ukraine conflict peacefully
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the Russia–Ukraine conflict should end “as soon as possible and, most importantly, by peaceful means.” He made this statement during a meeting with heads of global news agencies within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

“We are in favor of solving the problem through political and diplomatic means. We do not want the fighting to continue. But unfortunately, the Ukrainian side and its Western allies are choosing a different path,” Putin said.

According to him, Russia has repeatedly expressed its readiness for negotiations, but Kyiv and the countries supporting it do not want to pursue peace.

“Many are accusing us, but in order to achieve peace, both sides must first show mutual respect and accept the current reality,” the head of state added.

Putin’s statement is causing a range of reactions in the international arena. Observers are interpreting his words as an attempt by Russia to resolve the conflict through negotiations. However, the position of Ukraine and Western countries remains unchanged for now.

How long the conflict will continue and how it will end is still unknown. One thing is clear: peace has become an urgent and vital issue for both nations.
