Iran Launches Missile Attack on US Air Base in Qatar
Iran fired six missiles at the US Al-Udeid Air Base located in Qatar. In response, Qatari authorities announced that all missiles were successfully intercepted by the country’s air defense systems. According to Reuters, citing eyewitnesses, sounds similar to explosions were heard in Doha — a sign that the defense systems had been activated. Axios sources reported that Iranian military forces deliberately targeted this specific American base with six missiles.

The Al-Udeid Air Base is located southwest of Qatar’s capital, Doha, and hosts the operational headquarters of the US Central Command (CENTCOM).

A statement from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps confirmed that missile strikes were carried out against Al-Udeid, considered one of the US military’s most important strategic assets in the region.

According to Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, the number of missiles launched matched the number of bombs used earlier by the US. Qatari officials noted that the targeted American facilities are situated far from residential areas.

Qatar also confirmed that its air defense systems successfully neutralized Iran’s missile attack. On the evening of June 23, Qatar temporarily closed its airspace for security reasons and advised citizens to remain in shelters until further notice. The UK Foreign Office also advised its nationals to avoid travel to the UAE and Qatar.

It is worth noting that on June 22, US Air Force carried out strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. Following this, US intelligence warned of possible retaliatory attacks by Iran on US bases in the region.
