In the Middle East, political risk and the danger of a nuclear crisis are once again on the rise. Despite large-scale bombings carried out by the United States of America, Iran managed to preserve its strategic enriched uranium reserves. This was reported by the Financial Times, citing European intelligence sources.
Experts note that while this operation was considered an important success for the US, Iran was warned about this threat in advance and managed to secretly move its uranium reserves to other locations. Currently, the main parts of the uranium are not stored in the underground Fordow complex, but in other strategic points.
It is stated that nearly 408 kilograms of 60% uranium were distributed across Iran's territory in a secure manner. This amount is considered sufficient material for making a nuclear weapon. According to Israeli and US sources, these actions may have been carried out after threats of war from US President Donald Trump.
What remains under Fordow?
Recall, the Fordow nuclear complex in Iran is historically considered one of the country’s most important uranium enrichment centers. It is located under a mountain near the city of Qom and has extensive defense systems. Although its above-ground infrastructure was damaged by US strikes, reports indicate the underground levels remained largely intact.
Currently, European Union member states are waiting for a secret intelligence report on the impact of this strike. This report will detail the technical condition of the facility, the extent of the damage, and its uranium enrichment capacity.
Trump’s statement and the official US reaction
Meanwhile, Donald Trump stated on his Truth Social platform that no material was moved and that Iran’s uranium stockpiles were completely destroyed. However, this claim completely contradicts US and European sources. According to them, transporting such an amount of enriched uranium is a very difficult and expensive process, carried out secretly and far from public observation.
The White House, after this incident, restricted the provision of secret information to Congress. The reason is that, according to reports, it was Congress that allowed these details to reach journalists. Pentagon officials also accused the media of excessively distributing information.
Is Isfahan the new center of nuclear activity?
According to The New York Times sources, uranium reserves were transferred to underground complexes in Isfahan. The materials, packed into containers, were transported on special light trucks. Each vehicle moved along a certain route to reduce the risk of accumulating uranium at a single point.
This situation shows Iran’s high level of strategic planning. Logistics of this type require months of preparation, and such success cannot be considered a coincidence. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
