The law enforcement agencies of Great Britain carried out one of the largest drug operations in history. According to SkyNews, one of the cocaine shipments detected on the territory of the country was seized at one of the ports on the Thames.
It is noted that a large cargo ship sent from Panama and arriving at a port located on the Thames was inspected, and law enforcement officers discovered 2.4 tons of cocaine tightly hidden under the containers.
Experts estimate the total market value of these drugs at approximately 96–100 million pounds sterling. Officials stated that the operation was carried out according to plan and the cargo had already been placed under surveillance even before it entered the country.
That was not the end. During another inspection at the port of Dover, 170 kilograms of ketamine, four thousand ecstasy tablets, and dozens of firearms were also found.
Such operations are considered one of the effective results of the British authorities’ fight against international drug trafficking. The Ministry of the Interior and the customs service emphasize that such cargoes are a serious danger not only from criminals but for the whole society.
Now investigators are working to identify the source of the seized cargo, the transport network, and the ordering parties. At the same time, international cooperation has been strengthened to determine who is behind this illegal activity.
This operation was recorded as one of the largest cocaine seizures not only in Britain but also on a European scale this year. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
