On the night of July 19, Russia once again launched large-scale airstrikes on the territory of Ukraine. The attack was focused on the cities of Odesa, Pavlohrad, and Kyiv. This was reported by city and regional authorities, as well as local media outlets.
In Odesa, a nighttime attack involved nearly 20 drones. According to the city's mayor, Hennadiy Trukhanov, there are casualties and injured people as a result of the strikes. Several apartment buildings were damaged, and some were completely burned down, reported dw.com.
According to the head of the regional military administration, Oleh Kiper, the full consequences of the attack are not yet known, but the damage is significant. The number of civilians injured continues to grow. Rescue operations are ongoing.
In Pavlohrad, the most powerful and widespread attack in recent years occurred. The head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional administration, Serhiy Lysak, wrote on Telegram:
“It was a hellish night and morning for Pavlohrad. The most massive attack on the city. Explosions after explosions. The Russians used both missiles and drones.”
According to him, a fire station, several industrial facilities, and a five-story residential building were destroyed. Exact information about casualties has not yet been provided, but many areas were affected.
The capital city of Kyiv was also not spared. In the Darnytskyi district, where private houses are located, fragments of a Russian drone fell on residential buildings. Authorities report that no one was killed. However, there is deep concern and psychological stress among the population.
Russia has not yet provided official comments on the goals of these attacks. However, judging by recent developments, the likelihood of further escalation is increasing.
Ukraine's Ministry of Defense stated that it is expanding its air defense capabilities in response to the attacks. At the same time, the international community is closely monitoring the situation.
What political and military consequences these airstrikes may lead to will become clear in the coming days. One thing is certain — the events of that night will remain in the memory of Ukrainians for a long time. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
