Amid the Russia–Ukraine war, serious doubts are emerging on the international political stage. A recently published article in the British newspaper “The Sunday Times” has caused quite a stir. According to the paper’s columnist Mark Galeotti, the likelihood that China is providing military assistance to Russia is very high. He based these claims on NATO intelligence reports.
Galeotti stated that while Beijing officially claims it is not offering any support, in practice, it continues to supply Russia with “dual-use” goods. These include fiber optic cables used for drone control, nitrocellulose needed for artillery fuel production, and other essential equipment. Since these goods can be used both militarily and for civilian purposes, their movement appears suspicious.
At the same time, according to Galeotti, China is also reportedly testing its advanced laser defense systems called “Silent Hunter” in cooperation with Russia. These systems are designed to counter low-altitude aerial attacks and are believed to possibly be used in front-line areas.
Even more concerning is the information that the number of Chinese troops in the Russian army is increasing. Behind this may be individuals not officially enlisted but participating in combat as mercenaries. Reports suggest they are fighting shoulder-to-shoulder with Russian soldiers on the front lines.
Galeotti believes that Beijing may be using North Korea as a “channel” to deliver weapons and military equipment, using a third-party disguise. This could be an attempt by China to maintain face on the international stage.
However, this information has not yet been officially confirmed by independent sources. Still, such developments are causing serious concern among global political analysts. If the claims turn out to be true, the international situation could become even more tense.
Experts also point out that such actions by China could lead to sanctions from the United States and Europe. It is clear that Russia sees such support as a major strategic advantage.
Additional information on this matter is expected in the coming weeks, potentially triggering a new wave of political tension on the global stage. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
