Trump gave Russia 10 days to end: war and sanctions threats

US President Donald Trump set an even more precise and short deadline for Russian President Vladimir Putin — now Moscow has only 10 days to end the war. Trump announced this during a conversation with media representatives, according to official White House sources.

In his remarks, Trump said that if a peace agreement is not reached in the next 10 days, the US will impose new tariffs and secondary sanctions against Russia. He noted that it is unclear how these measures will affect the Russian economy, but Washington is now taking a tough and decisive position. “Do tariffs and sanctions affect Russia — I don’t know. It’s clear that Putin intends to continue the war, but we won’t back down,” said Trump.

Trump specifically pointed out the likelihood of sanctions and economic restrictions being introduced in a matter of days. He added that he is “not worried” about how this process will affect raw material markets. The US president said the countdown starts from today and Russia must make a clear decision within 10 days.

On July 28, Donald Trump also expressed his opinion about the agreements being made between Russia and Ukraine, stating dissatisfaction with the lack of progress in the Istanbul negotiations. He stressed that countries that continue business ties with Russia may also face new sanctions.

Recall that Trump had previously, on July 14, given Russia a 50-day deadline, while also promising to supply Ukraine with new weapons. He did not explain why exactly this deadline was set, but now the period has been reduced to 10 days.

The international community is closely watching Washington’s steps in the coming days and what events will unfold regarding a ceasefire between Moscow and Kyiv. Trump’s sharp statements are creating new pressure and complex questions in the international political arena.
