According to Bloomberg agency citing sources, about 10 countries of the European Union are ready to send their military forces to Ukraine after the large-scale phase of the Russia-Ukraine war ends. This news attracts great attention internationally, as it demonstrates the effective approach of European countries to ensuring Ukraine’s security.
According to sources, European officials on August 19 discussed, within the framework of a peace agreement, the plan to send British and French troops to Ukraine. At this meeting, the number of troops, their deployment, and tasks were examined in detail. The goal is for each action to be precise and effective, preventing unforeseen risks and problems.
The British government in the coming days will meet with European military officials and US representatives to “develop reliable security guarantees and prepare for the rapid and effective deployment of security forces in case military actions cease.” This shows the joint approach of Europe and the US to ensuring Ukraine’s security.
Bloomberg sources add that the first stage of the support measures package focuses on the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including training Ukrainian soldiers and replenishing personnel. In this process, a multinational group, mainly consisting of European soldiers, will be involved, while the UK and France are expected to send hundreds of their soldiers to Ukraine, deploying them far from the front line.
The next part of the plan includes US support, which involves exchanging intelligence, monitoring borders, supplying weapons, and possibly providing air defense systems.
Russian officials have repeatedly stated their categorical opposition to the deployment of NATO troops in Ukraine. Russian Foreign Ministry official Maria Zakharova on August 18 said: “We confirm our position of strictly rejecting any scenarios that envisage the appearance of a military contingent of NATO countries in Ukraine.”
US officials stated that they will not send American soldiers to Ukraine, but may support Ukraine from the air as a security guarantee.
Thus, the security guarantees package for Ukraine is expected by the end of this week, that is, by August 24, and will be officially announced. This step shows the international community’s readiness to ensure Ukraine’s security and support peace through European countries’ cooperation.
