During his visit to Kyiv, Germany's Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil discussed the funds and support that need to be allocated for Ukraine. According to President Volodymyr Zelensky, Germany is ready to provide at least 9 billion euros, which will be used to strengthen Ukraine's air defense and equip it with new weaponry.
On August 25, during a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and German Vice Chancellor Lars Klingbeil, the issue of strengthening Ukraine's defense against Russia's large-scale invasion was discussed. Ukraine is hoping for further support from Germany, including new military supplies such as the Patriot system and IRIS-T.
According to Zelensky, Germany's financial support will be crucial for strengthening air defense against attacks. Issues regarding the purchase of U.S. weaponry under the PURL program and the acquisition of two Patriot systems were also discussed.
This type of aid from Germany will help to reinforce Ukraine's security. In addition, Klingbeil and Zelensky agreed to tighten sanctions against Russia and to provide security guarantees for Ukraine. Germany has expressed confidence in its leading role in developing and implementing these security guarantees.
Intergovernmental agreements on these matters are of strategic importance to Ukraine and contribute to strengthening public trust.
