Syria has sold its oil to the foreign market for the first time in 14 years, and Reuters international agency reported this important step.
It was reported that within the framework of the agreement signed with the trading company, a total of 600 thousand barrels of crude oil were sent to foreign countries. It was clarified that the lifting of restrictions imposed by the United States in August of this year not only allowed for the restoration of exports, but also allowed for the activation of the economic process.
The Syrian Ministry of Energy emphasized that this step is important not only for revitalizing the oil sector but also for increasing the country's prestige in international energy markets and expanding the horizons of cooperation with global companies. In the near future, new export deliveries are also planned.
Recall that due to the crisis that began in the country in 2011 and economic sanctions imposed by the West, Syria stopped selling oil abroad until this year. Therefore, this new step has not only economic but also political significance.
