Mask: Neuralink will restore vision in 2026

Neuralink, a neurotechnology company headed by Elon Musk, plans to perform a partial vision restoration operation for a completely blind patient in 2026. Musk commented on the company's plans on the social network X, sharing information about its first operations in Canada.

The company and Musk announced that partial and phased restoration of the blind person's vision will be a priority next year. In this process, a scientific and medical approach to blindness is tested through neurochips, which can open up opportunities not only for people with visual impairments but also for those suffering from other neurological diseases.

In July, Bloomberg reported that Neuralink plans to implant neurochips to 20,000 patients annually by 2031. Patients can use three versions of neurochips, which provide the following capabilities: vision improvement for blind and visually impaired people (Blind), mitigation of symptoms of neurodegenerative disorders, and devices adapted for controlling other mental disorders.
