On the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum, Russian President Vladimir Putin made an important statement. According to him, if Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visits Moscow, the Russian side will fully guarantee his safety.
"The Ukrainian leadership is expressing a desire to meet, and we are aware of this proposal. "Please come to Moscow, safety and working conditions will be ensured one hundred percent," Putin said.
At the same time, the Russian leader assessed the proposals to organize a meeting with Zelenskyy in other countries as "excessive and meaningless." "If there is a real need for dialogue, its best destination is the Russian capital, the hero city of Moscow," he added.
However, Putin, while expressing his openness to dialogue, did not hide the fact that he does not see much meaning in this meeting at the moment. He believes that even with the emergence of political will, reaching an agreement with Ukraine on key issues will not be easy.
As a reminder, the Russian leader had previously invited Zelenskyy to hold talks in Moscow. However, although the Ukrainian president said he was ready for such a meeting, he expressed his position that "it's not just in Moscow."
