An unexpected incident occurred in Australia: 65-year-old Catherine Sullivan, who had worked at the bank for 25 years, lost her job after the introduction of artificial intelligence. According to The Sun, although she actively participated in launching the new system, later she was dismissed precisely because of this technology.
Sullivan worked in the customer service department and also took part in testing the Bumblebee AI software system. However, shortly afterwards, she and some colleagues were informed about dismissal under the pretext of transition to new technologies.
The bank’s press service explained that the use of artificial intelligence was aimed at improving work efficiency. However, during the initial stage, Bumblebee AI struggled to handle the large flow of requests, and as a result, some employees were offered to return.
Nevertheless, Catherine Sullivan declined this opportunity. According to her, the new position did not guarantee long-term stability. The bank’s management, in turn, promised to provide financial and psychological support to the dismissed employees.
