US President Donald Trump has urged the European Union to impose tariffs of up to 100% on China and India. According to him, these measures should put pressure on the Russian president and help end the war in Ukraine.
Trump’s proposal came as Russian attacks intensified. Over the weekend, the government building in Kyiv was hit by a missile strike, and in Donbas more than 20 civilians were killed while waiting in line to collect their pensions.
Trump said he was unhappy with the situation and indicated that tougher sanctions could be imposed on Russia. He also announced that he plans to have a phone call with Putin in the coming days.
China and India are among the largest buyers of Russian oil. Therefore, tougher tariffs against them could have a significant impact on the Russian economy.
