According to the Russian authorities, a woman living in the country has been arrested on suspicion of treason. According to investigative bodies, he intended to fight in the Ukrainian army and for this purpose went to the territory of neighboring Kazakhstan.
It was reported that the suspect had met the Ukrainian serviceman online. During the negotiations, he agreed to join the Ukrainian army. Later, according to the accusation, he went to Kazakhstan, where he underwent military training.
According to the investigation, after military training, he returned to Russia and headed to the Ukrainian border. However, Russian intelligence officers detained him approximately 100 meters from Ukrainian army positions.
A criminal case has been initiated against the suspect under two articles: "Attempted State Treason" and "Attempted Illegal Border Crossing." Investigators say that these charges are classified as serious crimes under Russian law and provide for long-term imprisonment.
Russian investigative bodies also requested legal assistance from Kazakhstani officials in the case. It is said that this is being done in cooperation with the neighboring country in order to determine the actions and direction of movement of the suspect.
