High seismic activity was observed near the Kamchatka coast: an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 on the Richter scale was recorded. The earthquake occurred at 10:42 a.m. local time, with its epicenter located at a depth of approximately 47 kilometers.
For this reason, the Ministry of Emergency Situations has declared a tsunami threat in the region. The responsible agency warned the population about the possibility of waves up to 120 centimeters high. It was especially noted that the highest risk is expected in the areas of Cape Mayachny and the Khalaktyrsky Beach. Residents are advised not to approach the seashore, to temporarily distance themselves from coastal areas, and to be at a safe distance.
According to experts, the earthquake was felt in a number of settlements in the Kamchatka region. It was noted that in some areas of the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Vilyuchinsky districts, tremors reached six points. This event is a significant signal for local residents and tourists, and serious attention is being paid to seismic hazard and safety measures.
In order to protect the population of the region and reduce the consequences of the earthquake, the relevant agencies are conducting regular monitoring and providing necessary recommendations to citizens.
