Clinic closure leads to death of mother and child
In Shesh Pol village, Abdul Wakeel’s wife, Shahnaz, was in serious condition during pregnancy. She tried to reach the nearest clinic, but it was closed. On the way, Shahnaz gave birth, but she and the baby died within a few hours.

The clinic provided important medical care for women. Experienced doctors worked there, and necessary medicines were available. But due to US aid cuts to Afghanistan, hundreds of clinics were closed.

The number of patients in hospitals has increased, but there are not enough beds and medicines. Maternal and infant deaths have risen in the central hospital in Faizabad.

Experts say that clinic closures put the lives of women and children at risk. In Shesh Pol and other villages, many families face similar problems.
