Number of Uzbek companies in Kazakhstan increases by 56 percent

Kazakhstan continues to remain one of the most attractive destinations for foreign investment. According to Zakon.kz, the number of legal entities with foreign ownership and branches of foreign companies in the country has increased by 6 percent over the past year compared to the same period last year.

According to the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations, the total number of foreign and joint ventures operating in Kazakhstan has exceeded 74,000. This is a significant increase compared to more than 59,000 recorded in October 2024.

Experts note that the country’s geographical proximity and economic ties remain key factors for foreign investors.

The distribution of registered and active foreign companies in Kazakhstan is as follows:

  • Russia: 23,105 registered (17,496 active);

  • Uzbekistan: 7,190 (5,473);

  • China: 6,790 (4,950);

  • Turkey: 5,236 (3,344);

  • Kyrgyzstan: 3,110 (1,943);

  • Azerbaijan: 1,612 (1,172);

  • Ukraine: 1,298 (895);

  • Germany: 964 (736);

  • Belarus: 914 (731).

Sources indicate that the composition of investment inflows is changing. For example, the number of Russian and Turkish companies has slightly decreased: Russians from 23,533 to 23,105, Turks from 5,444 to 5,236. At the same time, the number of Chinese enterprises has increased significantly, from 5,217 to 6,790.

However, the most striking dynamics belong to Uzbekistan. In May 2024, the number of Uzbek companies registered in Kazakhstan was 4,595, but by September 2025 this figure had reached 7,190. This represents an increase of more than 56 percent within a year.

Analysts emphasize that this trend indicates strengthening economic integration and cooperation in Central Asia.
