Baby buried alive in India found and rescued

In India, a life-saving incident occurred that shocked the entire public. According to BBC, a 20-day-old baby girl was found alive, buried in the ground.

According to reports, the baby was accidentally discovered by a simple shepherd. He heard crying sounds coming from under the soil, and when he approached, he noticed the baby’s hand sticking out of the ground. The man called the villagers, who then informed the police.

Law enforcement officers dug out the child and immediately took her to the hospital. Doctors said her condition was severe: the baby was completely covered in soil, sand had entered her mouth and nose, causing signs of suffocation. There were also insect bites on her body and, possibly, traces of an animal attack.

Within 24 hours her condition slightly improved, but later worsened again due to infection. According to the doctors: “The prognosis is not favorable, but we are using all possibilities to save her.”

So far, the police have not identified the baby’s parents, and the investigation is ongoing.

Officials note that such cases in India are often linked to the traditional preference for male children. Girls are often seen as an economic burden, especially in low-income families. According to human rights defenders’ estimates, millions of girls in India have been eliminated either through sex-selective abortion or killed in infancy.

By law, determining the sex of a child before birth is prohibited, but underground clinics continue to operate.

It is worth recalling that in 2019 a similar case was recorded — a premature baby girl was placed in a clay pot and buried alive, but was rescued in time.
