Protests and Violence in Dutch Cities
In the Dutch capital, The Hague, police used tear gas and water cannons on Saturday to disperse anti-immigration protesters. In the clashes, 30 people were arrested, two police officers were injured, and some protesters threw stones and bottles.

About 1,500 people blocked a city road, and one police car was set on fire. Prime Minister Dick Schoof called the violence “unacceptable.”

Protesters demanded stricter immigration policies. The violence damaged the office of a central party. Party leader Rob Jetten advised protesters to “stay away from political parties.”

After the protests, the government and political leaders are discussing migration issues. New measures are expected, and police have been called to increase security.
