Australian journalist fired over Gaza post

Australia’s national broadcaster ABC has been ordered to pay $150,000 for firing Antoinette Lattouf over a social media post about the Gaza war. The court found she was dismissed under pressure due to her political views and lobbying by Israeli groups.

The court noted that Lattouf was never warned not to post, and her dismissal was based only on suspicion.

Lattouf has worked in Australian media for several years and focused on racism and mental health issues. She had already received $70,000, and now an additional $150,000 will be paid.

ABC publicly apologized. The judge said the financial penalty shows ABC’s wrongdoing and the importance of protecting staff.
