According to the latest report, scientists have stated that cardiovascular diseases are the most widespread cause of death worldwide and have the greatest impact on human mortality. Statistical data collected from 1990 to 2023 across 204 countries concluded that every third death is specifically associated with these diseases.
It is noted that while in 1990, 13.1 million people died from cardiovascular diseases, by 2023 this figure had reached 19.2 million. Moreover, in most regions, the mortality rate among men is higher than among women, indicating the significant effect of risk factors on men’s health.
Cardiovascular diseases also rank first in the DALY (Disability-Adjusted Life Years) indicator — the number of healthy life years lost due to premature death or disability.
Experts emphasize that up to 80% of these risk factors can be prevented. These include obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol levels.
Therefore, specialists stress the importance of educating the population, monitoring diet, maintaining regular physical activity, and following doctors’ recommendations. These measures significantly reduce the likelihood of developing cardiovascular diseases and are crucial for prolonging human life.
